Gudule's brigade has selected no less than 6 grape varieties to compose the recipe for this Retour au Marché. The greed and freshness of Gamay meets the power of Carignan. The profusion of black fruits of Grenache contrasts with the tannins of Mourvèdre. A touch of Cabernet Franc for complexity and Sangiovese for structure complete the picture.
Careful selection of the basic ingredients is essential, but it would be nothing without all the work done behind the stove. This is why our grapes are harvested by hand, and this crop is completely de-stemmed. We let ourselves be guided by the expression of the fruit, doing our utmost not to rush it. Thus, the vinification and maturation took place exclusively in stainless steel tanks, and the 11,000 bottles were lightly filtered.
This Retour du Marché will take you from surprise to surprise. Don't let the lightness of its colour fool you, it actually hides a beautiful depth. As for the nose, at first discreet, it then lets you guess the heat and spices. And if the palate seems to be dominated by the fruit, its crispness gradually reveals silky tannins.
A wine for friends par excellence, it can be kept for up to 4 years, but its fruitiness will never be as bright as in its youth. It finds its place in the middle of convivial meals to be shared with pleasure. So...pizza or charcuterie platter?
