Brewery Of The Lesse
THE BREWERY OF LA LESSE In 2011, members of the Confrérie du Busson re-launch the Brasserie de la Lesse, which was active in the 20th century in the village of Lessive. To do this, they are reopening the old Brasserie Rezette, which used to brew 'La Rochefortoise' beers in the heart of the village of Éprave. A PROFESSIONAL BREWERY, BUT WITH A SOCIAL PURPOSE Anxious to create a local and ethical business, the colleagues decided that the brewery would be a cooperative with a social purpose, with the following objectives: relocation of the economy, creation of activities in rural areas and participatory activities. The beginnings are a bit folkloric. The equipment turns out to be more capricious than expected. But the support of Crédal and 160 hardy co-operators ensures that the small company has enough financial backing to get on track and produce its first brew in January 2012. Over the years, new beers have appeared, always in a typically Belgian style: blonde, amber, brown, white, triple, Noël. On several occasions, the brewery won the title of "Best Beer of Wallonia". The beer is flowing, but the equipment is getting old and can no longer keep up. At the end of 2017, the brewery moved to a renovated farmhouse a little further down the road. Now housed in an eco-construction building equipped with ultra-efficient brewing equipment, a new page has been turned in the history of this small brewery in La Rochefort. The cooperative currently has 4 workers, 7 directors and 400 cooperators!
